The latest Bzz Kit I received contained some goodies from Lawry's! I'm no stranger to the Lawry's brand. I am in love with Lawry's Seasoned Salt and I refuse to eat my fries without it, however, I was excited to try the rest of the goodies in the box!
I wear many hats, some fashionable, some not so much. Motherhood is not always cute, no matter how you dress it up. It's not meant to be. But it's my most favorite job in the whole wide world. I'm sure most Moms will agree, that no other profession is as rewarding. And surprisingly, I'm good at it! Although the kid may beg to differ from time to time. What does he know.
Nonetheless, this post is about my other jobs. Yes J-O-B-S!! If you've read my bio, you know that I juggle more than one occupation. The main one being Senior Contract Manager for a real estate law firm here in Atlanta. I’ve been with the firm for 12 years now and I’ve enjoyed it thoroughly. I’ve risen from entry level to middle management, met some life-long friends, and gained an immense amount of knowledge of the industry. While I love my job and work hard to do it well, I have no thirst for the world of real estate. So, in the quest for self-fulfillment, I started my own business.
Joonie and Jake’s Children’s Events, was created out of my love of hosting elaborate parties for my son. After the kid’s Harry Potter themed 8th birthday party, I soon had friends asking for assistance in creating the same for their kids. So I started a business based on event planning for elaborate children’s parties. I honestly enjoyed doing it, but it wasn’t lucrative and I was spending a ton on supplies for décor. It was getting to be becoming more of an expensive hobby than an actual business. It wasn’t until I’d purchased an airbrush tattoo machine that someone asked if I did face painting.
Intrigued by the question, I began searching online and saw that face painting as I knew it had evolved into an extravagant art form. I’d watched countless hours of YouTube videos before I finally purchased my first kit, a Wolfe Brothers Beginner Kit! It took a class with the incomparable Heather Green from Silly Farm and with encouragement and guidance from my good friend Leatha, I embarked on my face painting journey!
Within the past year, I have learned a lot but I still have a lot to learn. I’m still somewhat insecure in my work as an artist and I practice daily so that I may grow in various mediums. I love face painting more than I could have evern imagined. What I love most is seeing the kids take the first look at their painted faces in the mirror. Priceless! Most recently, I’ve added henna to my art arsenal and have fallen in love with the medium. Henna is so much more than paste to skin in delicate designs. It’s culture, tradition, lineage, ethnicity, art, and love. I’m obsessed. I’m also timid as a new henna artist. I’ve studied the most amazingly talented henna artist and hope for at least a smidge of their talent.
Blogging is my way of journaling all of my aspirations, hence the birth of Mother Hustler! Because I’ve got so many irons in the fire, the term Mother Hustler puts my life into perspective. I must admit, I was a bit skeptical about the overall purchase. I'm usually not a fan of substitute anything. I always want the "real deal". So when I first tried the GO Veggie cheese slices I was pleasantly surprised. There was no distinction that this was anything different than the usual sliced American cheese I'm used to.
This high rating coming from me is serious business. You see, I don't play about my cheese. I love all kinds of cheese. If cheese was man, I'd married him, divorce him, and re-marry him. Go Veggie is amazingly delicious and cheesy! So far, I've only eaten it on sandwiches as that is really the only way I eat sliced cheese. But I'm definitely going to purchase the shredded version. I'm sure it'll equally rock my world!

So, this is basically the time of year when I start to plan trips for the upcoming year. Every summer the kid and I take a trip where we do all kinds of things the kid chooses to do (beaches, waterparks, theme parks, etc.) and then I take one trip either alone or with friends to be an irresponsible adult and do what I want to do (drink, drink, dance, sleep til noon, and drink). I begin to plan in the Fall of the previous year for the of money saving schematics. And so the search has begun.
I’m a big fan of Ruby Velle and the Soulphonics and recently found her on Instagram. As I thumbed through her pics I came across one of her at a showcase for the Girls Rock Camp here in Atlanta which is a six-day camp for young girls providing creative expression through music. Awesome, right? Well, what’s awesome-er is that they also have a Ladies Rock Camp which is a mini version of their summer program, where grownup girls get to form bands, play instruments, write songs and perform! I’m all over this! Ladies Rock Camp is also the annual fundraiser for the Girls Rock Camp as all proceeds from LRC support GRCATL. Two birds, one stone. Yeah-yer!
I signed up for Ladies Rock Camp 2015 but since it’s held in February there was still a void for my summer plans. Yet the discovery of LRC led me on a search to find other summer camp type organizations for adults. What I found was pure splendid deliciousness! Here are my top five findings:

My baby is a baby no longer. He’s no longer my sunshine in the morning or my afternoon pick-me-up after a long day at the office. He is an asshole. He’s moody, cocky, and dismissive. He no longer wants early morning cuddle time or “good morning” whispers in his ear. He is a contrarian and I honestly believe that his opinions are formed based on the opposite of what he thinks my view may be. He’s got what I like to call “pube-tude”.

Studying used to be limited to flash cards with words/definitions paired with chapter summaries he'd write after the night's assigned reading. Now, as he enters middle school, we're working on developing studying techniques to perfect his methods by the time he enters high school. Together, through trial, error, and many a BC headache powder, we've found some things that seem to work best for him and optimize his study time. Here are a few of our guidelines to initiate good study habits.

A couple weeks ago, I had the most blissful experience ever when I visited Flöt Spa Midtown (www.flotspa.net). I was intrigued by the picture, on their website, of a futuristic looking pod shaped device filled with heated Epson salt water that renders your body effortlessly buoyant for the duration of a 50 minute flötation therapy session.
Soothing and relaxing is an understatement. I played around a bit, like a big kid in a little pool. I was amazed that all my voluptuousness was defying gravity. I enjoyed it more than any massage I've ever had. Peaceful bliss and tranquility aren’t the only qualities of the 50 minute flöt therapy session. The benefits range from tension relief and immune boosting to creating mental clarity and enhancing athletic performance.
